Student Internship Problems Of The State Of Kentucky

Student Internship Problems in the state of Kentucky Abstract Internship is an important and unavoidable component of higher education. In the state of Kentucky, students of universities and institutions of higher education have been facing problems in getting the appropriate and effective internship training. This research studies the implementation of formal internship and cooperative pipeline training programs in colleges, universities and local industries in the field of applied engineering and technology in Kentucky. Data for the training programs is collected through the questionnaires which have been directed specifically at university students currently in an applied engineering and technology management programs, and also†¦show more content†¦These internet portals then serve as a platform for employers and students assisting both of them with making a connection between students and employees. Students are allowed to post their resumes and search for internship opportunities and employers are also able to post their temporary employment needs. These existing techniques, while organized and supportive, are unfortunately failing to effectively follow up to the task of providing internship training opportunities to all students wish to secure such training. In place of the current informal internship process just described as it is the proposal of this research study that there is more organized, more formalized strategy which will be mentioned in this research as a formal internship and cooperative pipeline training program (FICPTP) that could be created to replace and enhance the existing procedure. Hypotheses The researcher referred two hypotheses in this study. Hypothesis #1 †¢ In Kentucky, colleges and university faculty, students, and industry personnel in the field of applied engineering and technology feel that the current internship and cooperative training system needs to be improved. Hypothesis #2 †¢ Faculty, students, and industry personnel in the field of applied engineering and technology management in Kentucky state would supports the implementation of a more formalized pipeline strategy of internship and
