Student Internship Problems in the state of Kentucky Abstract Internship is an important and unavoidable component of higher education. In the state of Kentucky, students of universities and institutions of higher education have been facing problems in getting the appropriate and effective internship training. This research studies the implementation of formal internship and cooperative pipeline training programs in colleges, universities and local industries in the field of applied engineering and technology in Kentucky. Data for the training programs is collected through the questionnaires which have been directed specifically at university students currently in an applied engineering and technology management programs, and also†¦show more content†¦These internet portals then serve as a platform for employers and students assisting both of them with making a connection between students and employees. Students are allowed to post their resumes and search for internship opportunities and employers are also able to post their temporary employment needs. These existing techniques, while organized and supportive, are unfortunately failing to effectively follow up to the task of providing internship training opportunities to all students wish to secure such training. In place of the current informal internship process just described as it is the proposal of this research study that there is more organized, more formalized strategy which will be mentioned in this research as a formal internship and cooperative pipeline training program (FICPTP) that could be created to replace and enhance the existing procedure. Hypotheses The researcher referred two hypotheses in this study. Hypothesis #1 †¢ In Kentucky, colleges and university faculty, students, and industry personnel in the field of applied engineering and technology feel that the current internship and cooperative training system needs to be improved. Questions On Multicultural Education The Material...

I have enjoyed the individual presentations. The material presented goes along with our weekly reading assignments in the Koppelman text. I have been learning ways of incorporating these topics into teaching and in my curriculum. I will be highlighting the presentations of Sarah, Virginia, Jessica and Ericka. Sarah Sponsel’s topic was multicultural education. Caleb Rosado shares that a school can be multicultural based on whether or not it uses the Five Ps. The five Ps are perspectives, policies, programs, personnel, and practices. The schools must also implement the four imperatives. The imperatives are: 1. Reflect the heterogeneity of the school; 2. This would prohibit teachers from reacting harshly when a student does not look the teacher in the eye or respond right away when the student is being punished. Certain cultures teach children to not look elders in the eye when they are being yelled at, and it is a sign of disrespect if a child talks back to his or her elders. If you are a woman, people would not be surprised to see you wearing slacks, but they might expect to see you in a dress. Most also expect you to be rather emotional and given to cry easily. They will think of you as nurturing, preoccupied with romance, personal relationships, and your appearance, and inept with things mechanical. If you are a man though, people will expect you wearing slacks, and they would be shocked to see you in a dress. Most also expect you to be assertive and always in control of your emotions. They will think of you as ambitious and competitive. Preoccupied with your studies, work, sports, and mechanically inclined. Every society has rules about which activities are suitable for males and which for females. In western societies today, sex is an organizing principle of social structure, it plays a great part in determining social roles. Women were seen to reproduce and care for children. The basic family consists of a mother and child. Parsons characterized the women’s role in the family as â€Å"expressive†, meaning that she provides warmth, security and emotional support for her husband and children. Parsons also argued that for the family to operate efficiently as a social system, there must be a clear cut sexual division of labor. Like a button and a buttonhole, they lock together to promote family solidarity. From this it follows that attempts to abolish gender roles and replace them with unisex roles may be in fact going against the will of nature. Women today rather than being passive and dependant, are instead likely to be active food providers as well as inventors and crafters of new material technology. How did we get here from there? Including population growth, increased environmental danger from ecological changes or warfare, the establishment of trade or exchange relations between societies, a change from a nomadic to a sedentary lifestyle, and technological advances allowing for the accumulation of a surplus of food and other goods. The available evidence indicates that specific gender relations appear to arise largely in response to external circumstances -economic, political, and social, not biological imperatives. In the workforce, the last ninety years have seen both the dramatic change and perhaps surprising continuity in the patterns of female labor in oz. In the 1st decade of the century, women moved into offices and shops in large numbers, transforming these jobs into predominantly female occupations. An institution that ensures women continued subordination economically, financially, legally, and emotionally. Women at home experience frustration, stress and boredom.
